KINDERGARTEN B

HEERBRUGG

Our competiton entry for the new "Kindergarten Blattacker" in the town of Heerbrugg suggests a courtyard house typology surrounded by a garden for the children. Five pavilions of identical size are grouped around two square courtyards. These protected outdoor spaces open to the sky form the core of the building and serve as areas for playing, sports and communication. The staggered arrangement of the pavilions makes for differentiated outdoor spaces and allows the placement of big corner windows in each unit. Dark colored, vertical cladding of the facade make for an elegant and understated presence of the building within the the heterogeneous context.
